2002 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab, Conquering the Outdoors - Tent

This truck is just awesome, just awesome.

What is your favorite mod?

I would say my favorite mod to date would have to be the roof top tent. It’s opened up an entire new style of camping for me.

What mod gets asked about the most?

I have been asked multiple times about the Safari Snorkel. People normally have no idea what it is or what’s it’s for. It’s become a conversation starter for many.

I wanted to ask more about  the snorkel mod. This pic pretty much explains it.

What was the toughest mod?

The hardest mod to complete so far was replacing the stock rear leaf pack. Living in the the north east the salt did a number on most of the hardware. The front spring hanger bolts were seized so we had to cut the bolts out. A few sawzaw blades and cutting wheels later and I had a nice set of OME Dakars sitting under the truck. The hard work was well worth it in the end.

Perched on the rocks, the Tacoma searches for its next prey.

What was your build inspiration/idea?

When I first started my build, I had the intent of it being a rock crawler. Ever since a road trip to Moab, the idea of the truck has changed more to an expedition rig.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out?

My advice to anyone starting out would be to decide early on what you want the capabilities of your truck to be. You don’t want to upgrade the same parts twice, it will just cost you more in the end.

What do you think? Have a favorite feature?
