New Luxury Package for 2013 Toyota Tacoma – Not Much Else

The new 2013 Toyota Tacoma will come with a new “luxury” package that adds a lot of chrome and some cozy interior options. That is basically the only real change for the new truck. Our question: Is a luxury package appealing to compact truck buyers?

New Luxury Package for 2013 Toyota Tacoma

The 2013 Toyota Tacoma will feature a new “luxury” package, but not a lot else will change.

New package options are all the rage right now for automakers looking to increase their profits. Full-size trucks have had many luxury packages for years. The new Tacoma package will be similar to packages offered on the full-size Tundra.

The new Limited Package will be available on 2013 models. It will come with a variety of interior and exterior upgrades including:

  • SofTex-trimmed heated front sport seats
  • Four-way adjustable driver’s seat
  • Variable speed windshield wipers
  • Metallic tone instrument panel trim
  • Leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio controls
  • Dual sun visors with mirrors and extenders
  • Auto-dimming rear-view mirror with rear camera display and outside temperature gauge, plus a HomeLink®universal transceiver
On the exterior Toyota says the new package will have:
  • 18-inch chrome-clad wheels with 265/60R18 tires
  • Chrome grille surround and rear bumper
  • Chrome outside mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators
  • Chrome door handles
  • Fog lamps
Pricing isn’t available yet for this upgrade, but as we previously reported the base price for the 2013 model will be $17,520.

The 2013 Tacoma comes with a host of small changes like all models coming with standard daytime running lights. Plus, all models will come with a new in-dash display screen when bought with the Etune package. Those packages with Etune will also get steering-wheel switches to control the system.

These small changes are just that — small. These additions really just keep the truck competitive with other automakers making the same items standard.

The luxury package, though, is going to be an interesting addition to the lineup. Time will tell if this additional package will appeal to buyers.
